smsd or ’slow-mots-stop-dols’ is an AV project between filmmaker paul stevenson of visual-hybrid and music producer screen3
The ’smsd’ Manifesto:
1 - Choose at random up to 5 stations for zones 1 & 2 of the London Underground network.
2 - Film visuals on super 8mm camera & record sounds at these locations in one day.
3 - Using only drum samples & the recorded incidental sounds from that day, create an audio track up to 5 mins long.(the use of guitars, turntables, keyboards etc is completely prohibited)
4 - The super 8mm film footage will then be cut & edited to the music track.

surrey keys/ lambeth north :
the smsd project provides a snapshot of city life in busy 21st century london.

very cool... a good montage of what you have to offer as a visual artist...
Collaboration for Advancement of the Arts / ._:kltr:_.
This video tests the conventions of what a MUSIC video is. It has music and video but no song. Created from a strict standard of rules, I'm amazed at what has been done. Especially keeping in mind that it was all shot in a day, and made for a song that didn't exist until AFTER the footage was taken. I applaud the creativity.

Thanks very much for all the feedback, especially as the nature of the project involves a fair bit of 'reading' etc prior to viewing which asks a lot of the viewer.
