Artist: The Real Tuesday Weld.

This video was actually shot back in April, for a different song - "I Loved London". This was when I was drowning in being torn away from London, the city I'd lived in for 10 years, to help my mother in America rebuild her life after my father's death from cancer. But London was breaking my heart, and I had to go. And so I made a big gay goth fable to say goodbye.

We later recut the video for this song, after "Last Words" had been picked up as a featured song in the film Nick & Nora's Infinite Playlist. This turned into one of the most stressful videos of my life, mainly due to failures involving post-production staff. Gory details later, in F-lock on my livejournal.

And yes, this will be the last video for a while... unless of course Amanda's video gets sprung on me in the next week.

poor man's Der Himmel über london?
video looks too touristy for me, but i like it at 2:28 - 2:30 and 3:29 - 3:37

other than that, given the stressful conditions under which you seem to be working - low to no budgets and such - i find it very brave of you that you somehow manage to bring off decent results. and i'm quite positive that if you were given a bigger stash of production money to spare, and not the low budgets you're probably sick of wading thru, the end results would be more spectacular. by the way your videos look at the time being, they're quite different from your ordinary pop promo in that they do deliver content, but lack in style. and that's why i'm curious to see that 'leeds united' vid that you shot on a decent budget.

Yeah, totally - and even the "Leeds United" vid was bare bones, actually. I had to shoot on Varicam :( :( and ended up sinking about $1,000 of my own money into it. But "Leeds" does have a lot more visual style than my other work.

I'd kill to be able to have things real directors have, like being able to shoot more than 5 rolls, or having a colourist and access to the simple 'tidy-up' flame vfx... and not having to do most of the pre and postproduction planning myself.

On "Guilty Pleasure" I did about nine other roles as well as directing. It kills me. I've pretty much decided to step away from music videos unless the budget is £10k or more (or it's one of my best friends, I'm a sucker for doing vids for mates' bands) just because otherwise I really will lose my mind.

hmmm, i wont pay a dime out of my own pocket to fund a video, period.
however, i needed some additional photography for that vid i shot three weeks ago, and we had to drove into the mountains for the shoot. and i paid for everything, but it was fun, more like a hike/ road trip than a shoot. felt like it was my birthday and the drinks were one me. but to simply burn $1000 on a video???? darn.

other than that, i know london's expensive (hell, my getaway to brighton was so cheap in comparison), and i somehow realize why so many videos turn out so cheap in the end. in bucharest, if you get the chance to work on a 6k E budget, you can shoot on film and grade it and shit like that, even rent a dolly and pay for the crew, and get your fee, etc. live action's cheaper than cg stuff. but usually you'll have to work with some poo butt artists who wanna be the next beyonce. so that's why i prefer to shoot 1 or 2 videos/yr but to be very happy with the result.
