The video was shot on HD using 35mm lenses and a 35mm adaptor. The set build was created in the studio of Salford University, using some of the flats from Shameless. Shot over 2 days and for £1500, its a testament to everyone who worked on it that such a great looking video can be achieved on such little money.
The video mixes between the performance section of the video as an omage to the Guns n Roses video 'Garden of Eden' (one of my favourite videos ever) and a narrative set in the 50's. I think the aesthetic works well, not just as an omage but equally in the way the singer constantly looks straight into camera. Its an extremely subjective angle and gives greater weight to the message of the video.
Inspired by the lyrics of the song, the narrative section is set in the late 1950's and the birth of American consumerism. It covers all that is sold through the tv. From the products sold to enrich your life or the government propaganda that sustains the societies comfort.
hope you enjoy it.
