Part of the 'This Delcate Film We've Made' project - a DVD of 13 animations, in surround sound, to songs from the album 'This Delicate Thing We've Made'.

This was a collaboration between myself and illustrator Damian Hale, who I've worked with on a few projects with onedotzero. He came up with sketches based on my storyboard roughs, which I then scanned, cut up, coloured, lit and animated in After Effects.

Part of the task with this project was to make each animation make sense in its own right, but to gain an extra level of narrative and emotional complexity when considered as part of the whole suite. A big part of the solutuion to that was to interpret each song individually, but to draw on a limited set of visual motifs (the moon, the sun and the stars, for example) across all of the films.

With 'Maybe', I had quite a strong emotional response to the song that I wanted to capture, and I had strong feelings about the visual style from quite early in the process - something that had an other-worldly feel and existed in a story-book universe, but without being overtly fairy-taley.
