"BHANGRA NEEDS HIM, HE DOES NOT NEED BHANGRA" - NIHAL / RADIO 1

"THE MOST DISTINCTIVE SINGER IN THE BRITISH ASIAN MUSIC INDUSTRY" - EASTERN EYE

"DES-C, THE DAWN OF A NEW AGE IN PUNJABI MUSIC HAS ARRIVED" - ASIANA

The new single 'JISKA HASNA' from Des-C, arrives delivering yet another killer classic in the making. A mixture of Hindi and Punjabi lyrics, the single is produced by D-Boy, and written by Des-C, takes a fresh look at modern day Bhangra with a romantic narrative. Laden with Des-C's phenomenal vocals, 'Jiska Hasna' proves Des-C's innate talent and vocal ability second to none.

The video is releasing to TV now, follows the track's narrative and is played out in a 1950's Americana style featuring cameos from D-Boy and the inimitable Twilight Players. This is the first time I've used the RED One on a shoot, an amazing camera when in the right hands! The depth of field is simply stunning and shooting 4K gives the image so much cinematic lustre which has been enhanced by the grade.

The slow-motion footage is shot at 60fps and 100fps, interestingly the camera has to reduce the image to 3K and 2K, respectively, to shoot at these speeds. The main anxiety I had was that on prior shoots, I had a physical copy of what had been shot such as a tape, on this shoot it was just data... laptops, wires and data- the DIT made swift work of storing and backing up on the G-RAID to put my mind at ease. The workflow seemed quicker in the edit process too, there was no 'ingesting' in real time, just drag and drop of Quicktime files as well as a 'pre-grade' interface to tune the colours- I guess this is like a telecine process. The R3D files have meta-data attached that contain the colour information. Even at offline quality the footage looked amazing, and the final product has turned out well too. The shoot time was tight due to the location restrictions, with the help of a crew with Trojan like energy and endurance, and plenty of planning, the project was a success.

I like that there's a story and that Des C enjoys acting, and does a good job of it
